In 2000, after a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA), Nandhini started her creative career at the Film and Television Institute of Tamilnadu (FTIT), Chennai, where she studied Direction & Screenwriting. After passing out as a Gold Medalist in DFT, she also completed her Masters Diploma in Business Administration.
In 2003, she won the prestigious Tamil Nadu State Awardas 'Best Director' for her student short film 'Ottam' which spoke about domestic violence. The film also won a State Award for 'Best Editing'.
Nandhini is best known for her urban romantic comedy movie 'Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru' (2009), produced by Sathyam Cinemas and Real Image Media Technologies, starring actors Ajmal Ameer, Rupa Manjari and veteran filmmaker Mouli.
In 2018, she wrote & directed 'Nila Nila Odi Vaa', a Tamil Vampire Web Series, produced by Viu India and Make Believe Productions. This Viu Original series stars actors Ashwin Kakumanu, Sunainaa, Srikrishna Dayal, Meesha Ghoshal, Anupama Kumar, Abhishek Vinod, Aswath and Gabrella Sellus among others.
Prime Video has announced the Global Premiere of Horror Crime Drama, Inspector Rishi on 29th March, 2024.
Created by Nandhini JS, and produced by Shukdev Lahiri under the banner of Make Believe Productions, the Tamil series stars Naveen Chandra in a pivotal role along with Sunainaa, Kanna Ravi, Malini Jeevarathnam, Srikrishna Dayal, and Kumaravel.
